Bassetlaw District Council tendered for an ICT services company to partner on the delivery of wireless broadband. Sharpe Group was awarded the contract, forming a partnership - North Notts Net (N3) - established to help improve broadband connectivity and speeds across rural Bassetlaw.
Simply, the project is aimed at increasing the provision of broadband accessibility within the district. Specifically the project will provide speeds, from 10mbps to 1000mbps+.
The technology is 5.8Ghz wireless point-to-point and point-to-multi point, and conforms to the CE mark and RoHS (EEE) Directive. To receive the connection a business or household must have an N3 receiver box affixed to their property, in most cases this can be attached to the exiting aerial pole or even a drain pipe! The box measures only 163 x 31 x 80 mm – much smaller than a Sky dish – and is very unobtrusive.
The equipment used is made by Ubiquiti, this includes the antennas Powerbridge, Titanium sector, Airmax Omni and receiver NanoStation M5. All conform to ETSI specification EN 302 326 DN2, and conform to CE, FCC, IC certifications.
The scheme is registered with OFCOM (Fixed Wireless Access).
